Refreshing, Low Sugar Drink Recipes for Spring

As the flowers bloom and the weather warms up, there’s no better time to sip on refreshing beverages that not only tantalize your taste buds but also keep your health in check. At College Walk Retirement in Brevard, North Carolina, we believe in the importance of maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle, which is why we’re excited to share these low-sugar recipes for delightful spring drinks perfect for seniors.

Cucumber Mint Cooler:

1 cucumber, peeled and sliced
1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
Juice of 1 lime
2 cups cold water
Ice cubes
In a blender, combine cucumber slices, mint leaves, lime juice, and cold water.
Blend until smooth.
Strain the mixture to remove any pulp.
Serve over ice cubes and garnish with a sprig of mint.

Berry Basil Spritzer:

1 cup mixed berries (such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries)
4-5 fresh basil leaves
1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup (optional)
Sparkling water
Ice cubes
In a glass, muddle together the mixed berries, basil leaves, and honey (if using) until well combined.
Fill the glass with ice cubes.
Top with sparkling water and stir gently to combine.
Garnish with a basil leaf and a few whole berries.

Lemon Ginger Iced Tea:

2 bags of herbal lemon ginger tea
4 cups water
1 lemon, thinly sliced
Fresh ginger, thinly sliced
Ice cubes
Bring water to a boil in a saucepan.
Remove from heat and add the tea bags, lemon slices, and ginger slices.
Let steep for 5-7 minutes.
Remove tea bags and refrigerate until chilled.
Serve over ice cubes and garnish with a slice of lemon.
